I hesitantly sat in the chair next to his hospital bed. I felt somewhat responsible for him being in the state he was in. I knew I wasn’t, but the feeling was something that I couldn’t help. He’d gotten into another street fight. He had been greatly outnumbered and unarmed. I bit back a violent curse. The doctor told me he would wake up soon and make a full recovery.
