Here is the lake in western New York State which is just a 5-min. walk from my childhood home. It's 7 miles around and totally populated by summer cottages and homes.
What a great place it was to grow up...

they are one
and the same
Just to bemoan
of words on paper
to words on a tongue
plants my newborn
on a mirrored podium
I thought I was
and token platitudes
in greasy hand-held
But just like holy water
sheds its symbolism
and is sucked back
into nature's cycle
the ink I warm
and nurse my words
to health with
will bore itself
into the impermanence
of paper or a monitor
and what I said
will shed the hope
it may have carried
at a time of
are what I'm writing
as I sit here
with my skull
swimming in a pillow
nursing a ruptured
in a war of wills
with your sadness
I was humoured
with your happiness once
and fooled tonight
by your sadness
I thank your sadness
for a necessary lesson
Clinging to the same numbers
is a Pollyanna policy

Mental strength dissipates
Into malleable mirage.
WarningYou warned me not to love you with my eyesWarning by MagicClare
That soften, pupils widened, never wise
When time and distance drape o'er every day
And keep them blind to hazel-brown display
You warned me not to love you with my skin
That blushes hot, enfolded from within
While silent follicles, nerve sensors light
Meet fingerpads that mold flesh in the night
You warned me not to love you with my heart
That swells whenever syllables chance dart
From your full lips, their pulses peaking sweet
And low like thrumming bass chords' yearning heat
You warned me not to love you with my mind
That craves your scent of books, cd's, entwined
With morning coffee, evening hockey gear
And late-night cocoa on the couch we share
You warned me not to love you with my soul
That deepens, throbs so thankfully, its role
To taste you, savor song that spirit gives ~
On lightest tongue the surging essence lives.
August NightsThe green of summer morphs into a mazeAugust Nights by MagicClare
Of lush nights' languid, humid, heated haze,
Torrential rains and thund'rous, Zeus-arced skies,
With sighs each ivory after-cloud belies.
Then em'rald, eyelash lush so ripens, full
Of magic midnights with intrinsic pull,
That August love Apollo never knew
(Despite directing lyre with eager Muse)
Intoxicates the senses ever blythe,
Perfuming nostrils, permeating eyes,
Eliminating need, and want, and chance,
In favor of a sweet heart's moonlit dance.
Yet in the morning mist a lush heart finds
A rain-washed clarity as day rewinds.

I have to say it! This pic makes me look oddly toothy, but it's just the angle. Okay, so the hair's longer by a few inches now... but yes, this is me.
Avatar by these folks: Go see their stuff!
What to say? I began writing at the tender age of five, dashing off little poems in a Composition notebook which I still have today. It always seemed clear that my future would be in the liberal arts, and so it was. After earning a Bachelor's and Master's in English Literature, I taught literature and writing skills for five years at a private university. Doing so had been my dream, and it was a pleasure. It also allowed me to further focus in spare time on my favorite writers, the Lake Poets of the English Romantic era, and on other authors close to my heart such as Frost, Gibran, Thomas, Yeats, Twain, Poe, Hemmingway and naturally Shakespeare. Yet the academic world is quite insulated, and eventually I sought more.
Time and circumstance led me to the world of newspapers and advertising, where succinct wording combined with art impact equals success. Within that vigorous world (and having inherited my father's picky-engineer-type brain), I was drawn to the minutiae of advertising systems and became a Systems Manager, happily responsible for the words of 50+ users in a 100+ newspaper group. It was an amazing interface of boardroom, technical and interpersonal experience shot through with the adrenaline of deadlines and business life.
Health issues rear-ended that career path. This year I return to literature in general and writing in particular, my first loves. Poetry of meter, of rhyme, of sensation, comes naturally to me in bursts; my brain loves iambic pentameter, and my goal is to capture feelings, human nature, sensations that arise from within inspired by the natural world and external events. Experimenting with Free and Short Verse is more challenging.
Flexing the mental sinews of style, form and function once again is simultaneously frightening and like coming home... so be gentle with me, if you will.
